Beautiful Surrender 1/?

Author: divine_nimbus

Title: Beautiful Surrender

Chapter: 1/?

Pairing: Godric/Sookie (main pairing); Godric/Sookie/Eric (moments)

Rating: PG-13 for now; eventually NC-17

Disclaimer: All characters are borrowed with respect from Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball.

Warnings: This story will feature a Dominant/submissive relationship. Additionally the relationship will explore aspects of BDSM.

Summary: While in Dallas, Godric takes an interest in Sookie, believing that there may be a reason for her erratic and many times disagreeable nature. This story will explore their relationship.

Notes: This story is an AU, starting off in Dallas. Godric is not the vampire that the Fellowship kidnapped, rather it was a vampire from his nest. He called Eric for assistance in dealing with the church and Sookie came along to help with the humans. In this story Godric is neither depressed nor suicidal. Although Bill and Sookie have been dating up to this point they have not yet slept together.

Please, if you read try to leave a comment. I love hearing what people are thinking. Thanks and I hope you enjoy!

***I wanted to add a note here, since I received an extremely hateful and mean-spirited review. Criticism does not bother me. If there is something you feel is off or that you have a question about concerning character, the writing or whatever, I feel that is perfectly acceptable to comment on. However just writing something in order to attack is pointless and rude, especially when doing so anonymously; if you're going to have the gall to be so unaccountably horrible to someone, I believe you should at least have the backbone to give the person you're attacking the chance to respond.

Additionally, I want to address the comment for anyone else who happens upon this story. The person who wrote this hateful comment suggested that I was writing Godric in a way that had him "engaging in an open, condescending trash-talking of Sookie." This commenter also objected to the character using the phrase "temper tantrums" to describe the way Sookie sometimes behaves. Generally I wouldn't feel the need to explain myself to anyone however this comment really got to me because I was also accused of being "misogynistic" by whoever made this comment, so here goes.

Number one: I do not believe Godric to be trash-talking Sookie; he is stating facts as he views him. If you had read closely at all you would note that he commends and compliments Sookie's bravery, simply makes note of the way she chooses to handle situations. And specifically, as far as him saying she has "temper tantrums," if this reader had gone on to Chapter 2 he or she would have read that Godric apologizes for saying this. Number two: Godric cannot possibly know Sookie as a person completely. At the point he is making his observations he has known her for two days, max. He knows what he does through Eric. Number three: As the writer of this story I have a right to manipulate characters how I desire. Is it my intent to portray Godric OR Sookie in a negative light? Absolutely not. This story is about a loving relationship. Is Godric both 'Dominant' and Vampire in the story? Absolutely. In the author's note it was stated that the relationship between them was going to be a Dominant/submissive. I am writing my Sookie as a character that has had to do everything on her own, something that Godric states as well. I'm not making a negative commentary on anyone who does or has had to do so, in fact much the opposite since I understand very well the situation I'm writing about.

Since I am writing about a DOMINANT/SUBMISSIVE relationship, though, it needs to be understood that in real life, the world we live in, there is a whole culture of people who live in the relationships I will be writing about. There is nothing "misogynistic" about it and I find that hurtful and insulting. The D/s culture is comprised of people who identify themselves as Dominant or submissive, Master or slave, and wish to be in a relationship of this nature. In my story, Godric, as a Dominant, sees that Sookie, MY Sookie in this AU that I am writing, is a natural submissive and only wants to help her. That does not mean control everything she does. That does not mean take her freedom away or her ability to voice her opinions. I would be happy to discuss this more at length with anyone who has questions or issues about this and wants to have a real conversation. But I will not be bashed and attacked for writing about a type of relationship I find to be beautiful and fulfilling as do thousands and thousands of others in the world.

I apologize for ranting, the comment just felt like a personal attack. To anyone still willing, I hope you will give the story the chance I feel it rightly deserves. D/s relationships can be beautiful and, in my opinion, the people involved have the potential to become even closer than they would partaking in any vanilla relationship. The level of trust involved to be this way with someone is astounding. It isn't for everyone obviously but I can say it is immensely rewarding for those who do find their way into the lifestyle. Thank you to anyone else willing to give the story a chance.
